Leather!

For those of you who love leather furniture, we thought it would be interesting to provide a bit of background to one of the most diverse materials in the world.  Documented back to pre-historic times, leather has long been used for shelter, clothing, and other basic needs.  Now, it is used to make the wallets we carry, the shoes we walk in, and of course the sleeper sofas we sit on!  Although our dependence on leather has not changed over time, the sources of leather have managed to expand greatly.  While most hides come from cow, it’s not uncommon to find hides taken from pigs, alligators, snakes, goats, and even sting rays.  Leather is a part of many of our everyday lives and is perhaps the most durable material available for furniture.
